Use this interactive demo to learn how to bring your Google Slides into Canva for editing.

Quick summary

This demo shows how to import Google Slides into Canva by exporting selected slides as a PowerPoint (.pptx) file and uploading it directly to Canva. It is a quick workaround for anyone who wants to edit Google Slides presentations in Canva without starting from scratch.

Steps

  1. Hold Ctrl on your keyboard and click the slides you want to upload to Canva to select them.
  2. Click File in the top-left menu, choose Make a copy, then select Selected slides from the options.
  3. In the Copy selected slides dialog box, rename the file and click Make a copy to create a separate presentation with only those slides.
  4. In the new Google Slides file, click File, choose Download, and select Microsoft PowerPoint (.pptx).
  5. Open Canva in your browser and click Create in the top-left corner.
  6. In the Create a design window, scroll to the Upload tab and click Upload files to upload your PowerPoint file.
  7. In the File Explorer window, select the PowerPoint file and click Open to upload it to Canva.
  8. Your selected slides from Google Slides will now appear in Canva and are ready for editing.

📌 Why this matters

Importing Google Slides into Canva lets users access Canva's powerful design tools — templates, brand kits, and drag-and-drop editing — without recreating presentations from scratch. This workflow bridges two of the most widely used presentation platforms, saving time for marketers, educators, and business professionals. By exporting selected slides as a PowerPoint file and uploading them to Canva, users retain their original content while unlocking advanced visual customization. It is the fastest way to repurpose Google Slides content inside Canva's design ecosystem.
