Quick summary
A date hierarchy in Power BI lets you drill down through year, quarter, month, and day in any visual automatically. Enabling the Auto Date/Time setting in Power BI Options is the fastest way to generate this hierarchy without building a custom calendar table.
Steps
- Open Power BI Desktop and navigate to Options and settings.
- Select Options from the dropdown menu.
- In the Options dialog, go to the Current file section and select Data load.
- Locate the Time intelligence section and confirm that Auto Date/Time is enabled.
