Use this interactive demo to learn how to duplicate an existing survey in SurveyMonkey.

Quick summary

Copying a survey in SurveyMonkey lets you reuse an existing survey structure without modifying the original. Using the Make a Copy option from the dashboard, you can duplicate any survey, rename it, and save it as a separate editable version in seconds.

Steps

  1. On your SurveyMonkey dashboard, navigate to the survey you want to duplicate and click the ellipsis icon to open the options menu.
  2. Click the Make a Copy option from the drop-down menu.
  3. A dialog box will appear prompting you to enter a new name for the copied survey.
  4. Once you have named the survey, click Save to confirm the copy.
  5. The new survey copy will appear in your survey list, ready to edit independently without affecting the original.

📌 Why this matters

The ability to copy a survey in SurveyMonkey saves teams significant time by eliminating the need to rebuild recurring or similar surveys from scratch. Duplicating a survey preserves all existing questions, logic, and formatting, making it ideal for recurring feedback cycles, A/B testing different question sets, or adapting a proven survey template for a new audience. This feature is especially valuable for researchers, HR teams, and marketers who rely on consistent survey structures across multiple campaigns or reporting periods.
