Use this interactive demo to learn how to continue text in Adobe InDesign.

‍

‍

Here’s a simple and quick guide on how to continue text in Adobe InDesign:

‍

  1. To continue text in Adobe InDesign, select the overset text to activate its frame, then click the ‘+’ icon at the bottom of the frame
  2. Once clicked, the cut text will be attached to your cursor, indicated by a change in the icon. Move to the page where you want the text to continue.‍
  3. Click the new page to continue the text, and watch the frame flow seamlessly across it.

📌 Why this matters

Text overflow happens constantly when designing multi-page documents like brochures, reports, or magazines. Threading text frames lets you maintain consistent formatting and spacing while allowing content to flow naturally across pages. Your text stays as one connected story rather than fragmented chunks you'd need to manage separately.

When clients request edits or content changes, threaded text automatically reflows throughout the entire document, saving you from manually adjusting each page. This becomes essential for professional layouts where text volume is unpredictable during the design process.
