Use this interactive demo to learn how to add and manage comments on any Notion page.

Quick summary

Notion's comment feature lets you annotate text selections or entire blocks to leave feedback, ask questions, and resolve discussions directly inside your workspace. You can add inline comments via the pop-up menu or the Ctrl/Cmd + Shift + M shortcut, then track and close them from the comments panel.

Steps

  1. Select the text on which you wish to add a comment.
  2. On the pop-up menu, click on the Comment option.
  3. Enter your comment in the text field that appears.
  4. Press the blue arrow icon to submit your comment.
  5. View your comment count using the message and count icon on the right-hand side.
  6. To comment on an entire block, click the six-dotted button next to that block.
  7. Select Comment from the block menu, or use the Ctrl/Cmd + Shift + M shortcut to comment on any selection in Notion.
  8. Click the comments icon to view all comments and access additional options.
  9. From the comments panel, view previous comments, add new ones, or mark comments as done.
  10. Click the checkmark icon to mark a comment as resolved and remove it from the thread.

📌 Why this matters

Notion's commenting feature enables teams to collaborate directly on page content without switching to a separate messaging tool. By letting users annotate specific text selections or entire blocks, it keeps feedback contextual, organized, and easy to act on. The ability to resolve comments with a single click ensures discussions stay clean and actionable, reducing noise in shared workspaces. For any team using Notion as a knowledge base or project hub, mastering inline comments is essential for faster reviews and clearer communication.
