Quick summary
Backlinks in Notion automatically appear on a page whenever another page links to it, making it easy to trace connections across your workspace. Using the @ command or double-bracket shortcut [[, you can create internal page links that instantly generate backlinks on the target page.
Steps
- Open the page you want to receive backlinks on and note the empty backlink area below the page title.
- Navigate to the page from which you want to create a link to that target page.
- Place your cursor at the exact location in the page where you want to insert the link.
- Type the @ command or use double brackets [[ to trigger the page search and find the page you want to link.
- Press Enter or click the page name in the search results to create the link.
- Confirm that the internal link has been created — Notion automatically generates a backlink on the target page at the same time.
- Return to the target page via the sidebar menu or by clicking the link you just created.
- Look below the page title to see the backlink count and click it to expand the full list.
- Review the backlinks list to see every page that links here, and click any entry to jump directly to the linking location.
