Use this interactive demo to learn how to access and review debug logs in your Salesforce org.

Quick summary

Salesforce Debug Logs let admins and developers monitor user activity and capture detailed execution data for troubleshooting. This step-by-step walkthrough shows you how to enable, configure, and view debug logs directly from the Salesforce setup menu.

Steps

  1. Click the App Launcher icon at the top of your Salesforce dashboard.
  2. In the Quick Find search bar, type and select Debug Logs.
  3. Click New to create a new debug log entry.
  4. Select the user you want to monitor, then set the Start Date and Expiration Date and fill in all required details.
  5. Click Save to confirm the debug log configuration.
  6. Go to Debug Logs, select a user, then click View or Download to access the log.
  7. Review the generated log entries displayed on screen.

📌 Why this matters

Salesforce Debug Logs are essential for developers and admins who need to diagnose errors, trace code execution, and monitor specific user behavior in a Salesforce org. Without debug logs, identifying the root cause of failed flows, Apex errors, or unexpected data changes is extremely difficult. This demo shows exactly how to enable and access debug logs in Salesforce so teams can resolve issues faster and maintain org health. Understanding the debug log workflow is a foundational Salesforce troubleshooting skill that reduces time-to-resolution across development and support teams.
