Use this interactive demo to learn how to post messages, questions, and polls in Salesforce Chatter.

Quick summary

Salesforce Chatter is a built-in collaboration feed that lets users post updates, ask questions, and run polls directly within Salesforce. Accessible via the App Launcher, Chatter keeps teams aligned without leaving the CRM.

Steps

  1. Click the App Launcher in the top-left corner of your Salesforce dashboard.
  2. Type and select Chatter in the App Launcher search bar.
  3. In the Chatter feed, click the options at the top to choose the type of content you want to create.
  4. Click Post to create and share a message in the Chatter feed.
  5. Click Question to create and post a question in the Chatter feed.
  6. Click Poll to create and post a poll in the Chatter feed.
  7. Scroll down to your Chatter feed to view all your posts.

📌 Why this matters

Salesforce Chatter enables real-time team collaboration directly inside the Salesforce platform, eliminating the need to switch between external messaging tools. Users can post updates, crowdsource answers with questions, and gather team input through polls — all tied to CRM records and workflows. This keeps sales, service, and operations teams aligned in context, accelerating decision-making and reducing communication gaps. For organizations already using Salesforce, Chatter is a zero-cost productivity boost that drives engagement without leaving the platform.
