Use this interactive demo to learn how to change the color of text in Adobe InDesign.

‍

‍

Here is an easy, step-by-step guide on how to change the color of text from CMYK to RGB in Adobe InDesign:

‍

  1. To change the text color from CMYK to RGB in Adobe InDesign, open the Color panel by going to 'Window' → 'Color' → 'Swatches.'
  2. Select and double-click the color you want to convert to RGB.
  3. A Swatch Options dialog box will appear. Under Color Mode, choose RGB from the dropdown menu to convert the current color swatch.
  4. Notice how the color mode changes from CMYK to RGB in real time. Click 'OK' to save and apply the changes.
  5. Go back to the Swatches panel and notice that your selected color has changed from CMYK to RGB and is now applied to your text.

📌 Why this matters

Converting text colors from CMYK to RGB ensures your designs display accurately across different mediums. CMYK colors are built for print production, while RGB colors are optimized for digital screens, websites, and online sharing.

Beyond simple color matching, this conversion prevents unexpected color shifts when your design moves between print and digital formats. RGB also offers a wider color gamut for vibrant displays, giving you access to brighter, more saturated colors that simply can't be reproduced in the more limited CMYK color space.
