Use this interactive demo to learn how to backup your Miro board.

To back up a Miro board, follow these steps:

Open your Miro board.
Click the three-dot menu in the top-right corner.
Navigate to 'Board' and click 'Export
From the menu, select 'Download board backup' and Miro will save a .rtb file.

Backing up your Miro board protects collaborative work from accidental deletions, system outages, or account issues that could erase hours of brainstorming and planning. The .rtb backup file preserves everything—sticky notes, drawings, comments, and precise positioning—in a format you can restore later.

This becomes especially valuable when working with external clients or contractors who might lose access to your workspace, since you can quickly recreate boards or share complete project histories without relying on screenshots or incomplete exports.
