Quick summary
This tutorial shows YouTube creators how to avoid music copyright claims by checking Initial checks in YouTube Studio before publishing. Learn to identify flagged audio segments, trace the rights holder, and replace copyrighted tracks with cleared Audio Library music.
Steps
- Go to studio.youtube.com and start uploading your video via Create > Upload videos.
- During upload, click the video in the upload queue to view any flagged segments before publishing.
- Review the copyright match warning to identify which segment triggered the match and which rights holder owns the content.
- If the flagged content is background music, return to your editing software, replace the track with a cleared Audio Library track, and re-upload the file.
- On the details page, click Initial checks in the upload progress sidebar — YouTube will automatically scan the video for copyright matches while it processes.
- Once all Initial checks are clear or reviewed, set Visibility and click Publish to go live.
