Quick summary
To add subtotals in Power BI, use a Matrix visual and enable Row Subtotals and Column Subtotals from the Format pane — Power BI then automatically calculates and displays grouped totals across your data.
Steps
- Select your data and open the Visualizations pane, then choose the Matrix chart.
- Navigate to the Format pane for the Matrix visual.
- Toggle Column Subtotals to the ON position.
- Toggle Row Subtotals to the ON position.
- Power BI automatically adds subtotals for all Row and Column groups in the Matrix.
