Steps

  1. Click the gear icon in the top-right menu of your Salesforce dashboard.
  2. Select Open Advanced Setup from the dropdown.
  3. In the Quick Find search bar, type and select Global Actions.
  4. Click New Action to begin creating your global action.
  5. Set Action Type to Log a Call (or SMS if available), set the Label, and fill in any additional required details.
  6. Click Save to save the new global action.
  7. Click the gear icon again in the top menu to return to Setup.
  8. Select Open Advanced Setup once more.
  9. In the Setup search bar, search for and select Publisher Layouts.
  10. Open the desired layout by clicking Edit, or create a new one by clicking New.
  11. Drag Log a Call into the Salesforce Mobile and Lightning Experience Actions section.
  12. Click Save to apply your changes to the Publisher Layout.
