Quick summary
Adding task dependencies in Asana lets you define which tasks must be completed before others can begin, keeping your project workflow on track. You can link dependent tasks directly from the task detail panel and remove them at any time with a single click.
Steps
- Navigate to the project that contains the tasks you want to link.
- Click into the task and open it to view the task detail panel.
- Click 'Add dependencies' in the sidebar to open the dependency selector.
- Begin typing the name of the precedent task and click on it to set it as a blocker.
- Confirm the task now shows what task it is Blocked by in the dependency section.
- Optionally, add another dependent task to extend the dependency chain.
- To remove a dependency, hover over the existing indicator banner and click the 'X' symbol that appears.
- Follow these steps to ensure all tasks are completed in the correct order and improve overall project workflow.
