Quick summary
This tutorial shows how to trigger Jira workflows from New Relic alerts using a Zapier automation, enabling engineering teams to automatically create or update Jira issues whenever a New Relic monitoring condition fires — no manual handoff required.
Steps
- Log in to Zapier, click "Create", and select "Zaps" to begin building your automation.
- Click "Trigger" to set up the starting point of your Zap.
- Search for New Relic in the app selector and select it as your trigger app.
- Choose a trigger event to define which New Relic activity will start the workflow.
- Connect your New Relic account and select the conditions you want to track.
- Add Jira Software Cloud as the Action App in your Zap.
- Select an action event, such as "Create Issue" or "Update Issue".
- Connect your Jira account to authorize the integration.
- Select the Jira project where issues should be created.
- Map New Relic fields — such as alert title, severity, and description — to the corresponding Jira issue fields.
- Run a test to verify that New Relic alerts correctly trigger Jira workflows.
- Click "Publish" to activate your Zap and go live.
