Quick summary
This demo shows how to connect Notion and Slack using Zapier so that new or updated database items automatically trigger a Slack notification. Setting up this Zap requires no coding and takes just minutes to configure end to end.
Steps
- Log in to Zapier, click "Create," and select "Zaps" to begin building your automation.
- Click "Trigger" and search for Notion to select it as the trigger app.
- Choose a trigger event — such as "New Database Item" or "Updated Database Item" — to define when Slack should be notified.
- Authorize Zapier to access your Notion account by completing the OAuth connection.
- Select the specific Notion database you want Zapier to monitor for changes.
- Run a test to confirm that Zapier correctly detects changes in your Notion database.
- Add Slack as the action app in the second step of your Zap.
- Choose an action event — such as "Send Channel Message" or "Send Direct Message" — to set how notifications are delivered.
- Authorize Zapier to access your Slack account via the OAuth flow.
- Enter the Slack channel name where notifications should be posted.
- Run a test to verify that Notion updates correctly trigger Slack notifications.
- Once the test passes, turn on your Zap to activate the Notion-to-Slack automation.
