Quick summary
This tutorial shows how to sync Jira sprints with Azure DevOps using a Zapier automation, so work items created or updated in Azure DevOps automatically reflect in your Jira project. The integration eliminates manual data entry between the two platforms, keeping cross-team sprint data consistent in real time.
Steps
- Log in to Zapier, click "Create", and select "Zaps" to begin building your automation.
- Click "Trigger" to start configuring the trigger step of your Zap.
- Search for Azure DevOps and select it as your trigger app.
- Choose a trigger event, such as "New Work Item" or "Work Item Updated", to define what starts the Zap.
- Connect your Azure DevOps account and select the project you want to track.
- Add Jira Software Cloud as the Action App in your Zap.
- Select an action event, such as "Create Sprint" or "Update Sprint", to define what happens in Jira.
- Connect your Jira account to authorize the action step.
- Map Azure DevOps work item fields — such as title, description, and status — to the corresponding Jira sprint fields.
- Run a test to verify that Azure DevOps work items sync correctly with Jira sprints.
- Click "Publish" to activate your Zap and start the live automation.
