Use this interactive demo to learn how to attach files to tasks in Asana.

Quick summary

Asana lets you upload files directly to individual tasks from your computer, Dropbox, or Google Drive, and view all uploaded files in one centralized Files section above your task list.

Steps

  1. Go to Projects in Asana.
  2. Click on the task you want to add a file to.
  3. Click the Attach files icon inside the task.
  4. Choose your attachment source: your computer, Dropbox, or Google Drive.
  5. Locate the Files menu above your tasks to see all attached files.
  6. Use the Files section to store and manage files from your drive or computer added through your tasks.

📌 Why this matters

Uploading and managing files directly within Asana tasks keeps project assets organized alongside the work they belong to, eliminating the need to search through separate storage tools. Teams can attach files from their computer, Dropbox, or Google Drive without leaving Asana, reducing context-switching and keeping collaborators aligned. The dedicated Files section provides a centralized view of all task-related documents, making it easy to find and reference project files at any stage of a workflow.
