Use this interactive demo to learn how to send Linear notifications automatically from Jenkins build events via Zapier.

Quick summary

This tutorial shows how to connect Jenkins and Linear using Zapier so that every Jenkins build event automatically triggers a Linear notification without any manual intervention. Setting up this Zap takes just minutes and eliminates the need to switch between your CI/CD pipeline and project management tools.

Steps

  1. From your Zapier dashboard, select Zap to start building a new automation.
  2. Click on the Trigger field to select the event that will start the Zap.
  3. Search and select Jenkins as your trigger app.
  4. Select your trigger event to define which Jenkins build action fires the Zap.
  5. Click Test trigger to verify Jenkins is sending data correctly.
  6. Search and select Linear as the action app.
  7. Select an action event to define what happens in Linear when the trigger fires.
  8. Connect your Linear account to authorize Zapier access.
  9. Configure the action details and click Continue to proceed.
  10. Click Test step to confirm the Linear action runs successfully.
  11. Once the test is successful, click Publish to activate the Zap.

📌 Why this matters

Manually monitoring Jenkins build results and then updating Linear issues wastes engineering time and leads to missed notifications. By connecting Jenkins to Linear through Zapier, development teams can automatically surface build failures, successes, or status changes as Linear notifications the moment they happen. This no-code integration keeps engineering workflows synchronized across CI/CD pipelines and project management without custom scripting. Teams using this automation reduce context-switching, accelerate incident response, and maintain tighter alignment between build health and sprint progress.
