Use this interactive demo to learn how to automatically sync Linear issues into a Notion database via Zapier.

Quick summary

This tutorial shows how to sync Linear issues with a Notion database using a Zapier automation, so every new Linear issue is automatically captured as a Notion database entry. Setting up this Zap requires no code — just connecting your Linear and Notion accounts and configuring a trigger and action in the Zapier editor.

Steps

  1. From your Zapier dashboard, select Zap to start building a new automation.
  2. Click on the Trigger field to select the event that will start your Zap.
  3. Search and select Linear as your trigger app.
  4. Select New Issue as the trigger event.
  5. Connect your Linear account to Zapier by logging in and authorizing access.
  6. Configure the trigger details and click Continue.
  7. Click Test trigger to verify the connection pulls real Linear data.
  8. Search and select Notion as the action app.
  9. Select an action event to define what happens in Notion when a new issue is created.
  10. Select and connect your Notion account to authorize access.
  11. Configure the event details and click Continue.
  12. Click Test step to confirm the Notion action works correctly.
  13. Once the test is successful, click Publish to activate your Zap.

📌 Why this matters

Manually copying Linear issues into Notion databases wastes engineering and project management time and introduces errors. By using Zapier to automate the sync between Linear and Notion, teams can ensure that every new issue is instantly logged in their Notion workspace without any manual effort. This integration keeps cross-functional stakeholders — from engineers tracking issues in Linear to project managers reviewing work in Notion — aligned on the same real-time data. For teams already using both tools, this Zap eliminates context-switching and creates a reliable, no-code bridge between their project tracking and knowledge management workflows.
