Use this interactive demo to learn how to share a Jira dashboard with specific team members.

Quick summary

Sharing a Jira dashboard lets you grant specific users view or edit access directly from the Dashboards section. This step-by-step process uses the Rename or Share Dashboard option to assign permissions to individual users.

Steps

  1. On Jira's main home page, navigate to the left-hand panel and click Dashboards.
  2. Click View All Dashboards to see the full list of available dashboards.
  3. Find the dashboard you want to share, then click the More Actions button next to it.
  4. Select Rename or Share Dashboard from the dropdown options.
  5. Go to the Viewers or Editors section and open its corresponding drop-down menu.
  6. Choose User as the sharing type from the drop-down.
  7. Click the next drop-down menu and select the specific user you want to share the dashboard with.
  8. Click Add to include the selected user.
  9. Click Save to apply the sharing settings.
  10. The selected dashboard will now be successfully shared with the specified users.

📌 Why this matters

Sharing Jira dashboards enables teams to collaborate on real-time project data without duplicating work or losing visibility. With granular Viewer and Editor permissions, project managers can control exactly who sees or modifies critical sprint and issue metrics. This feature is essential for cross-functional teams in Jira who need aligned, up-to-date reporting across stakeholders. Properly shared dashboards reduce context-switching and keep everyone working from a single source of truth.
