Use this interactive demo to learn how to properly configure Yoast SEO for your WordPress website.

‍

‍

Here’s how to do it:

‍

  1. Open your WordPress dashboard and go to 'Plugins'.
  2. Select 'Add New' from the options.
  3. In the search bar, type 'Yoast SEO' and click 'Install Now'.
  4. Once installed, click 'Activate' to continue.
  5. Upon activation, use the configuration wizard to set up basic settings. Hit 'Start first-time configuration' to allow Yoast to analyze your site's content.
  6. Click on 'Continue' to start the SEO Data Optimization.
  7. Define if your site represents an organization or a person, and input the name and logo.
  8. If satisfied, click 'Save and continue'.
  9. Add links to your social media profiles to help search engines build knowledge panels.
  10. Set your Personal Preferences.
  11. After the configuration, you will be able to access your Yoast SEO. Navigate and click the Yoast icon to configure how your site appears in search results.
  12. Once in the 'SEO Settings', select 'Settings' to continue.
  13. Configure search appearance for titles and metas by enabling the buttons beside each menu.
  14. Once done, click 'Save changes' to confirm the changes.

📌 Why this matters

Proper SEO setup transforms your WordPress site from invisible to discoverable, letting you control exactly how your content appears in Google search results and social media shares. Beyond basic optimization, this configuration creates structured data that search engines use to build knowledge panels and rich snippets for your brand. You're essentially teaching Google who you are and what your site represents, which influences how prominently you appear for relevant searches and whether users click through to your content.
