How to Screen Record on Descript

Descript's built-in screen recorder lets you capture any area of your screen directly inside a project, with options to include camera and microphone input. Once recording stops, the footage is automatically added to your timeline for editing, voiceover, and publishing.

Steps

1. Open a new or existing project in Descript where you want to add the screen recording.
2. Click the Record button (circular icon) to open the recording options.
3. Configure your camera and microphone settings, then click No screen shared to choose a capture area.
4. Select the area of your screen you want to record, then click Share to confirm.
5. Click Record into script to begin the screen recording session.
6. When finished, click the Stop Recording button to end the session.
7. Review your footage — Descript automatically adds the screen recording to your timeline for editing, voiceover, or adjustments.
8. Click Publish in the top-right corner to save and share your project.
