Renaming columns in Power BI is done through the Power Query Editor, accessible via the Transform data option in the Home tab. This process lets you apply clean, descriptive column names before loading data into your report.
Steps
- In Power BI Desktop, click Home and select Transform data.
- Select Transform data from the dropdown list to open the Power Query Editor.
- In the query editor, locate the column you want to rename.
- Right-click the column header and choose Rename from the context menu.
- Once done, click Close & Apply to save your changes and return to the report view.
