Quick summary
Recording charity donations in Xero is done through the Manual Journals feature under the Accounting menu. You open an existing journal, edit it to add donation details — including Account, Tax Rate, and Amount — then post the entry to finalise the record.
Steps
- From the Xero dashboard, click Accounting in the top menu bar.
- Select Journal Report from the dropdown list of options.
- Click Go to Manual Journals to navigate to the manual journals section.
- Find and open the journal you want to use for recording the charity donation.
- Click Journal Options to access journal settings.
- Select Edit from the available choices.
- Click an empty line and enter all required charity donation details, including Description, Account, Tax Rate, Region, and Amount (Debit or Credit).
- Review your input and click Post to apply and save the changes.
- Your charity donation is now recorded in the selected Xero manual journal.
