Quick summary
Moving a Jira issue to another project lets teams reorganize work without losing issue history or context. Use the built-in Move action to reassign the issue, update its type, and set a new status in just a few steps.
Steps
- In your Jira space, find and open the issue you want to move.
- Click the Actions button in the top-right corner of the issue window.
- Select Move from the list of available options.
- Use the drop-down menus to specify the destination project and set the new issue type.
- Click Next to proceed to the next step.
- Open the status menu and choose the new status you want to assign to the issue.
- Click Next to continue.
- Review the terms on the confirmation screen, then click Next.
- Review all pending changes and click Confirm to apply them.
- The selected Jira issue is now successfully moved to the new project.
