How to Manually Install WordPress

Use this interactive demo to learn how to manually install and set up WordPress on your own hosting.

Follow these simple steps:

Open your browser and head to the official WordPress site. A quick search for "WordPress" will get you there.
Click on the official WordPress.org link from the search results. You'll want the .org version, not .com—that's where the self-hosted magic happens.
Once you're on the WordPress homepage, click the "Get WordPress" button. This takes you straight to the download page.
Hit "Download WordPress X.Y.Z" to grab the latest version. The .zip file will start downloading to your machine.
