Use this interactive demo to learn how to turn a static Figma design into a clickable prototype.

Quick summary

Making a Figma design interactive requires enabling the Prototype panel and connecting frames with interaction triggers. Once configured, you can present the prototype directly in Figma to simulate real user flows.

Steps

  1. Open the right-side panel in Figma and click Prototype to switch to prototype mode.
  2. Find and select the frame you want to use as the starting point of your prototype.
  3. Hover over the selected frame, click the Add icon on one of its sides, then drag the connection to another frame to link them.
  4. Configure the Interaction settings by specifying your desired Trigger, Action, and Animation.
  5. Click the Present button in the top-right corner to launch the interactive preview.
  6. Input your trigger action to test how your Figma design responds and validate the prototype flow.

📌 Why this matters

Making a Figma design interactive through the Prototype panel allows designers to simulate real user flows without writing a single line of code. Interactive Figma prototypes help teams validate UI decisions early, gather stakeholder feedback faster, and reduce costly redesigns in development. By linking frames with custom triggers, actions, and animations, designers can present a realistic, clickable prototype that closely mirrors the final product experience.
