Use this interactive demo to learn how to build and publish a website using Google Slides.

Quick summary

This demo shows how to create a website in Google Slides by designing slides as pages, adding internal slide links as navigation buttons, and publishing to the web for a live shareable URL. It is a free, no-code method ideal for simple websites, portfolios, or project showcases.

Steps

  1. Open a blank presentation in Google Slides.
  2. Create your main home slide to serve as the website's landing page.
  3. In the menu bar, click Insert to add text boxes, images, or shapes for your sections.
  4. Create the structure of your website by using shapes as buttons to add links to other slides.
  5. Insert images or add a background to your home page.
  6. Create a new slide that will serve as another page of your website.
  7. Repeat the same steps for all other pages.
  8. Go back to your home slide, right-click the shape you want to use as a button, and click Link.
  9. Click Slide in this presentation to open the internal linking options.
  10. Select the slide you want to connect to your button, then repeat for all other buttons.
  11. Review your slides and links before publishing.
  12. In the menu bar, hover over Share, then click Publish to web.
  13. Set your publish to web settings then click Publish.
  14. Google Slides will ask for confirmation — click OK.
  15. Open the published link and test your navigation to confirm all buttons work correctly.

📌 Why this matters

Google Slides is a free, universally accessible tool that lets anyone build a multi-page website without coding skills or paid hosting. By linking slides together and using the Publish to web feature, users can create navigable, shareable websites in minutes. This approach is especially valuable for students, educators, freelancers, and small businesses who need a quick online presence without the complexity of traditional website builders. Understanding how to make a website on Google Slides unlocks a practical, zero-cost alternative to platforms like Wix or WordPress for simple use cases.
