Quick summary

Google Slides can be used to create simple movie-like presentations by combining stickers, callouts, animations, and auto-play slideshows. This guide walks through every step needed to build and play a fully animated story in Google Slides.

Steps

  1. Click Media and select Stickers to open the sticker panel.
  2. Choose and click stickers to add them to the slide.
  3. Add a dialogue using Callouts to give characters speech or text.
  4. Select an object and click Animate to open the animation panel.
  5. Set animations for each object to build out your story sequence.
  6. Set the start condition for each subsequent animation to After previous so animations progress automatically.
  7. Set the animation speed for each object to ensure timing is correct.
  8. Make new slides and add transitions to connect scenes.
  9. Open Slideshow and open the option menu for Auto-play.
  10. Finish setup then click Play to run your movie-style presentation.
  11. Note that Google Slides can only handle simple movie-like presentations.

📌 Why this matters

Google Slides is a free, browser-based tool that most users already have access to, making it an accessible way to create simple animated, movie-style presentations without any video editing software. By combining stickers, callouts, object animations, slide transitions, and auto-play, users can produce engaging visual stories directly inside Google Slides. This matters for educators, content creators, and business users who need a quick, no-cost method to produce animated storytelling content. Understanding how to chain animations with "After previous" sequencing and auto-play unlocks Google Slides as a lightweight motion graphics tool.
