Quick summary
Google Slides has no native lock slide feature, but you can prevent editing by converting slides to images and setting them as slide backgrounds. This workaround stops viewers from modifying individual slide elements, effectively locking the content in place.
Steps
- Open your presentation in Google Slides.
- Note that Google Slides has no native Lock presentation option — this method uses a slide image as a workaround.
- Navigate to the slide you want to lock.
- In the menu bar, click File, hover over Download, then select JPG image or PNG image.
- Insert a new slide in the same presentation.
- On the new slide, click Background.
- Click Choose image.
- Upload the downloaded slide image.
- Click Done to set it as the slide background.
- Repeat the same steps for any other slides you want to lock.
- Delete the original editable slide so viewers only see the locked image-background version.
- Be aware this workaround may make slides look slightly pixelated, but people will not be able to edit the original slide elements individually.
