Use this interactive demo to learn how to sync and link slicers across pages in Power BI.

Quick summary

Linking slicers in Power BI lets you sync filter selections across multiple report pages, ensuring consistent data filtering without manually duplicating slicer configurations. The Sync Slicers pane in the View tab gives you precise control over which pages share a slicer's state.

Steps

  1. Click the Slicer visual on your report canvas to select it.
  2. Go to the View tab in the ribbon at the top of Power BI Desktop.
  3. Click Sync Slicers to open the synchronization panel.
  4. Observe the Sync Slicers pane that appears on the right side of the screen.
  5. Select the slicer you want to sync and check the pages where you want the slicer's selection to apply.
  6. Click the save icon to save your changes and finalize the slicer sync configuration.

📌 Why this matters

Linking slicers in Power BI is essential for building consistent, professional reports where a single filter selection automatically updates data across multiple pages. Without synced slicers, analysts must manually recreate filters on every report page, increasing the risk of inconsistent insights. The Sync Slicers feature in Power BI Desktop eliminates this redundancy, saving time and ensuring every stakeholder sees aligned, accurate data. This capability is a must-know for anyone building multi-page dashboards or enterprise-level Power BI reports.
