Use this interactive demo to learn how to connect Trello and OneNote using a Zapier automation.

Quick summary

This tutorial shows how to integrate Trello with OneNote using Zapier by building a Zap that automatically triggers a OneNote action whenever a selected Trello event occurs. The result is a seamless, no-code workflow that keeps your project management and note-taking tools in sync.

Steps

  1. Log in to Zapier, click "Create," and select "Zaps" to start building a new automation.
  2. Click "Trigger" to begin configuring the trigger step of your Zap.
  3. Search for "Trello" and select it as the Trigger App.
  4. Choose a trigger event such as "New Activity" or "New Board" to define what starts the automation.
  5. Sign in to your Trello account, grant Zapier access, and click "Continue" to authenticate.
  6. Select a Trello board, then click "Continue with selected record" to confirm your trigger data.
  7. Search for and select "OneNote" as the action app in your Zap.
  8. Choose an event under OneNote to define what action will run when the trigger fires.
  9. Pick a Microsoft account to connect OneNote to Zapier.
  10. Select "Accept" to grant Zapier access to your OneNote account.
  11. Complete and customize the required fields, then click "Continue" to finalize the action setup.
  12. Click "Publish" to activate the integration and complete the Trello–OneNote Zap.

📌 Why this matters

Integrating Trello with OneNote via Zapier eliminates manual copy-pasting between your project management and note-taking tools, saving teams significant time on repetitive tasks. When a new Trello card or activity is created, Zapier automatically creates or updates the corresponding OneNote entry, ensuring your notes always reflect the latest project status. This no-code automation is ideal for teams who rely on Trello for task tracking and OneNote for documentation, enabling real-time content sync without any developer involvement. The result is improved productivity, fewer errors, and a single connected workflow across two of the most widely used Microsoft and Atlassian productivity tools.
