Use this interactive demo to learn how to connect Trello and Asana automatically using Zapier.

Quick summary

This tutorial shows how to integrate Trello with Asana using a Zapier automation, so that Trello card events automatically trigger actions in Asana without manual effort. By setting up this Zap, teams can keep both project management tools in sync and eliminate duplicate data entry.

Steps

  1. Log in to Zapier, click "Create," and select "Zaps" to get started.
  2. Click "Trigger" to proceed to the trigger setup.
  3. Search for "Trello" and set it as the Trigger App.
  4. Choose a trigger event, such as "Card Archived" or "Card Due," from the available options.
  5. Sign in to your Trello account, grant Zapier access, and click "Continue."
  6. Complete and customize the required fields for the Trello trigger, then select "Continue."
  7. Select "Test trigger" to verify the Trello trigger is set up correctly.
  8. Choose a Trello board from the results, then click "Continue with selected record."
  9. Search for and select "Asana" as the action app.
  10. Choose an action event under Asana.
  11. Log in to your Asana account and click "Continue" to grant Zapier access.
  12. Complete and customize the required Asana fields, then select "Continue."
  13. Click "Test step" to confirm the Asana action works correctly.
  14. Click "Publish" to activate and complete the Trello–Asana integration.

📌 Why this matters

Integrating Trello with Asana via Zapier lets teams bridge two of the most popular project management platforms without writing a single line of code. When a card event occurs in Trello, a corresponding action is automatically triggered in Asana, keeping tasks and workflows in sync across both tools. This automation reduces manual data entry, eliminates the risk of missed updates, and allows teams that use both platforms to collaborate without switching context. For organizations managing complex projects across multiple tools, this Zapier integration is a practical way to improve productivity and maintain a single source of truth.
