How to Integrate Replit with GitLab

Use this interactive demo to learn how to integrate Replit with GitLab.

This tutorial shows how to link your GitLab account to Replit so you can import, commit, and push projects between the two platforms.

Note: You need a Replit account and a GitLab account to get started. Sign up at replit.com if you don't have one yet. Once connected, your GitLab account stays linked across all your Replit projects.

  1. Sign in at replit.com and open any project from the dashboard.
  2. In your workspace, click the + icon, then select the Git tab (the source control icon).
  3. Go to Settings, then click Sign in to authenticate and link your GitLab account with Replit.
  4. Click Connect to GitLab. Replit redirects you to GitLab to authorize the connection.
  5. Sign in to your GitLab account if prompted, then click Authorize Replit to grant access.
  6. Once authorized, Replit redirects you back to your workspace. Your GitLab account is now connected and ready to use across your projects.

📌 Why this matters

Connecting GitLab to Replit lets you keep your existing version control workflows intact while coding in a browser-based environment. For enterprise teams that rely on GitLab for repository management, CI/CD pipelines, and access controls, this connection means developers can contribute from anywhere without setting up a local environment. Every push from Replit feeds directly into your existing GitLab pipelines, so nothing in your workflow changes on the GitLab side. It also keeps your code independent of any single platform - making it easier to collaborate across teams, migrate projects, or hand off work when needed.
