Steps
- Inside the slide canvas, go to the top menu bar and click 'Insert'.
- Click the 'Shapes' button in the ribbon.
- Find and select 'Rectangle' from the available shape options.

- Hold each resize handle and drag it so the shape fully covers the image you want to highlight.
- Go back to the ribbon and click 'Shape Fill'.
- Pick the highlight color you prefer to use.
- Click 'More Fill Colors' to access advanced color options.
- Reduce the opacity by dragging the slider or entering a value to make the highlight semi-transparent.
- Click 'OK' to apply the color and opacity changes.
- The selected image in your PowerPoint presentation will now be highlighted.
