Use this interactive demo to learn how to select and group multiple elements in Canva.

Quick summary

Grouping elements in Canva lets you select multiple objects at once and move or resize them together as a single unit. Use the Shift key to multi-select elements on your canvas, then release to instantly create a grouped selection.

Steps

  1. Click your cursor on the first element you want to select.
  2. Press and hold the Shift key while continuing to click on other elements.
  3. Keep holding Shift and clicking to select multiple elements across your canvas.
  4. Once all desired elements are selected, release the Shift key to finalize your selection.
  5. All your selected elements will now be grouped together as a single unit.

📌 Why this matters

Grouping elements in Canva is a fundamental design skill that lets users move, resize, and arrange multiple objects simultaneously without disrupting individual element positioning. This feature saves significant time when editing complex layouts, ensuring that text, images, and shapes stay aligned relative to each other. Designers working on presentations, social media graphics, or marketing materials can maintain consistent layouts by grouping related elements before repositioning or scaling. Mastering the Canva group feature reduces manual rework and gives users more control over their overall design structure.
