Quick summary
The Kanban Backlog view in Jira lets teams manage unmapped work items by mapping statuses directly to a dedicated backlog column. Enabling it takes just a few clicks inside Board Settings under the Layout and Columns configuration.
Steps
- In your Jira space, go to the top navigation bar and click the 'More Options' button next to the board name.
- Choose 'Board Settings' from the list of options.
- In the left-hand panel, click the 'Layout' tab.
- Select 'Columns' to proceed to the column configuration screen.
- Select a work item from the Unmapped Statuses column and drag it onto the Kanban Backlog column.
- The Kanban Backlog view in your Jira space will now be enabled.
