Use this interactive demo to learn how to enable LastPass in your Chrome browser.

‍

This tutorial shows how to re-enable the LastPass extension in Chrome if it has been disabled or is no longer visible in your toolbar.

Note: This applies if LastPass was previously installed but stopped appearing in Chrome, for example, after a browser update, a Chrome cleanup, or accidentally disabling it. If LastPass is not installed at all, see How to Add LastPass to Chrome first.

  1. Open Chrome and click the Extensions icon (the puzzle piece) in the top-right corner of the toolbar.
  2. Check whether LastPass appears in the dropdown. If it does not appear or shows as inactive, it may be disabled.
  3. Type chrome://extensions in the address bar and press Enter.
  4. Find LastPass: Free Password Manager in the list and click the toggle to turn it on.
  5. Click the Extensions icon again and click the pin icon next to LastPass to restore it to your toolbar.
  6. Click the LastPass icon in the toolbar to confirm it loads and prompts you to sign in.

📌 Why this matters

Re-enabling your password manager restores instant access to all your saved credentials, letting you log into accounts without typing passwords or searching through notes. Browser updates and system cleanups frequently disable extensions as a security measure, even when they're legitimate tools you actively use. This disruption often happens silently, so you might not realize your password manager is disabled until you need it most. Having it properly enabled and pinned ensures your login workflow stays seamless, especially when switching between multiple accounts throughout your workday.
