Use this interactive demo to learn how to apply bulk changes across multiple Jira tickets at once.

Quick summary

Jira's bulk change feature lets you edit multiple work items simultaneously from the list view, saving time on repetitive updates. Using the Bulk Change Work Items workflow, you can select tickets, choose an operation, and confirm changes in just a few steps.

Steps

  1. In the list view of your Jira space, go to the top-right corner and click More Actions.
  2. Select Bulk Change Work Items from the dropdown list of options.
  3. One by one, tick the checkbox beside each ticket you want to bulk edit.
  4. Once you've selected all desired tickets, click Next to proceed.
  5. Select the action you want to initiate, then tap the radio button beside it.
  6. Click Next to advance to the confirmation step.
  7. Review any related settings when prompted, then click Confirm to apply the changes.
  8. The bulk changes will be applied to all selected Jira tickets and the operation progress will be displayed.

📌 Why this matters

Jira's bulk change feature is essential for project managers and development teams who need to update multiple work items at once without manually editing each ticket. By enabling bulk edits — such as reassigning, transitioning status, or modifying fields across dozens of issues simultaneously — teams dramatically reduce admin overhead and keep sprints moving efficiently. This capability is especially valuable in large-scale Agile projects where backlog grooming and sprint planning require rapid, consistent updates to many issues at once. Mastering bulk changes in Jira directly improves team velocity and reduces the risk of inconsistent issue data.
