Use this interactive demo to learn how to delete a Microsoft Forms survey or quiz.

‍

‍

Microsoft Forms moves deleted forms to a recycle bin first (30-day recovery), perfect for safely removing unused surveys while protecting data. Follow these steps to set it up:

‍

  1. On your Microsoft 365 main dashboard, click the App launcher (grid icon) in the upper-left corner.
  2. From the app list, select Forms to open Microsoft Forms.
  3. Head to My forms to view all the forms you've created so far.
  4. Hover over the form tile and click the three dots (...) in the upper-right corner.
  5. Select Delete to remove this form from your workspace.
  6. Confirm by clicking Delete again—it'll be gone for good.

📌 Why this matters

Removing old forms keeps your workspace organized and prevents accidentally sharing outdated surveys that could confuse respondents or collect irrelevant data. The 30-day recycle bin acts as a safety net, letting you experiment with cleanup without fear of permanently losing valuable forms.

This becomes especially valuable when managing seasonal surveys, event registrations, or feedback forms that pile up over time. A cluttered form library makes it harder to find active surveys and increases the risk of editing the wrong form when you're working quickly.
