How to Delete a Contact in Xero

Use this interactive demo to learn how to archive and remove a contact from your Xero directory.

Quick summary

Deleting a contact in Xero is done by archiving them through the Contacts menu, which removes them from your active directory while preserving their transaction history. This six-step process takes under a minute and can be completed directly from the Xero dashboard.


Steps

  1. On the Xero main dashboard, click Contacts in the top menu bar.
  2. Select All Contacts from the dropdown list of options.
  3. Find the contact you want to delete and click the More Options button next to their name.
  4. Tap Archive from the options that appear.
  5. Click Archive one more time to confirm your request.
  6. The selected contact will now be removed from your Xero directory.
