Creating a mind map in PowerPoint uses the built-in SmartArt feature to visually organize ideas with hierarchy and relationship layouts. You can quickly add topics, sub-topics, and branches directly from the Text Pane without any third-party tools.
Steps
- Go to the Insert tab in PowerPoint.
- Click SmartArt located in the Illustrations tab.
- Choose Hierarchy or Relationship as your diagram category.
- Select Horizontal Hierarchy (Hierarchy) or Radial Cluster (Relationship) as the specific layout.
- Click OK to insert the SmartArt graphic into your slide.
- Click the Text Pane (the arrow on the left side of the graphic) to start typing your ideas.
- Type your subject and press Enter to add a new bubble.
- Press Tab to create a sub-topic (demote) or Shift + Tab to move back to a main topic (promote).
