Use this interactive demo to learn how to create a Likert scale survey in Microsoft Forms.

‍

‍

To establish a Likert scale in your Microsoft Form, follow these specific steps to measure attitudes or satisfaction levels:

‍

  1. On your Microsoft 365 main dashboard, click Apps to see all available tools.
  2. Click on Forms to open Microsoft Forms.
  3. Click New Form to create one, or open the specific form where you need to organize data.
  4. Click the Untitled form area to enter a quiz title and specific instructions.
  5. Click Quick start with and select the Likert question type from the extended menu.
  6. Enter your main instruction in the question box.
  7. List your categories or features in the left Statement rows and complete the scale columns on top.
  8. Once done with form creation, click on the Style button (paint icon) to customize your form layout.
  9. Click Preview at the top of the page to verify the layout on both desktop and mobile, and once you're happy with the results, you’re all set.

📌 Why this matters

Creating Likert scales transforms subjective feedback into quantifiable data you can analyze statistically. Beyond simple yes/no questions, you capture nuanced opinions across multiple dimensions simultaneously - like rating both "ease of use" and "value for money" in one streamlined survey.

This structured approach reveals patterns and correlations that open-ended questions miss, while the familiar rating format increases response rates. You'll generate cleaner datasets for reporting to stakeholders and can benchmark results over time, turning scattered opinions into actionable insights that drive real decisions.
