Interact with this demo to master creating polls in Microsoft Forms.

‍

‍

Microsoft Forms lets you quickly create polls to gather opinions or feedback from others in real time. Follow these steps to make one:

‍

  1. On your Microsoft 365 main dashboard, click Apps to see all apps.
  2. Click on Forms to open Microsoft Forms.
  3. Select New Form to start a blank form.
  4. At the top, click “Untitled form” and fill in your poll title and description.
  5. Click Quick start with, select the Choice question type, and enter your poll question and answer options.
  6. Toggle Required if you want participants to answer before submitting.
  7. Use the Style button (paint palette icon) to customize your poll’s look.
  8. Click Preview to see how your form looks to respondents.
  9. Click Collect responses to share your poll via a link, QR code, email, or embed code.

📌 Why this matters

Creating polls gives you instant feedback from your audience without the back-and-forth of emails or meetings. You can gauge team preferences, collect customer opinions, or make group decisions efficiently. Beyond simple data collection, polls create engagement by making people feel heard and involved in decision-making processes.

The real-time responses help you spot trends quickly and adjust course before small issues become bigger problems. Plus, having structured data instead of scattered feedback makes it easier to present findings to stakeholders and justify decisions with concrete numbers.
