Use this interactive demo to learn how to build and customize a Gantt chart view in ClickUp.

Quick summary

ClickUp's built-in Gantt chart view lets teams visualize tasks and project timelines without any third-party tools. Once enabled, the Gantt view automatically syncs with your existing List view, keeping all task data consistent in real time.

Steps

  1. Go to your Workspace in ClickUp.
  2. Open the Folder or List that contains the tasks you want to visualize on a Gantt chart.
  3. Select the +View icon at the top of the screen to add a new view.
  4. Choose Gantt from the list of available view types.
  5. Name your Gantt view to identify it within your project.
  6. ClickUp will automatically generate a Gantt chart displaying all your tasks and project details.
  7. Use the Gantt chart to add new tasks directly from the timeline view.
  8. Any new task added in the Gantt chart will automatically appear in the List view, keeping both views in sync.

📌 Why this matters

ClickUp's Gantt chart view gives project managers a visual, drag-and-drop timeline to track task dependencies, deadlines, and overall project progress — all within the same platform they already use for task management. Unlike standalone Gantt tools, ClickUp automatically syncs Gantt tasks with List view, eliminating duplicate data entry and reducing the risk of miscommunication across teams. This makes it an ideal solution for teams looking to improve project planning, resource allocation, and on-time delivery without adding new software to their stack.
