Use this interactive demo to learn how to build and customize a dashboard in Smartsheet.

Quick summary

A Smartsheet dashboard is a customizable, no-code reporting view that consolidates project data, metrics, and widgets into a single shared screen. You can create a dashboard in minutes by adding it to a workspace, naming it, and populating it with widgets like titles, charts, and data panels.

Steps

  1. On Smartsheet's main screen, find and select a workspace under All Workspaces.
  2. Go to the left-side panel and click the Add button.
  3. Choose Dashboard from the list of options.
  4. Tap the title field and enter a unique dashboard name.
  5. Click the Edit Dashboard button next to the dashboard name.
  6. Click the Add Widgets button in the right-hand pane.
  7. Find and select the widget you want to add to your dashboard.
  8. Tap the widget to start customizing its content and style.
  9. For the Title widget, edit the default text and use the floating toolbar to adjust formatting.
  10. Drag and resize the widget to reposition it on the canvas.
  11. Click Add Widgets again to insert additional widgets.
  12. For other widgets, use the right-side panel to apply customization options.
  13. Once finished, click Save in the top-right corner.
  14. Your new dashboard is now created and added to your Smartsheet workspace.

📌 Why this matters

Smartsheet dashboards give teams a real-time, centralized view of project health, key metrics, and task status without requiring any coding or IT support. Being able to quickly create and customize a dashboard directly within a workspace means project managers and stakeholders can track progress, spot bottlenecks, and make data-driven decisions faster. This feature is especially valuable for organizations managing complex work across multiple sheets, as it consolidates critical information into one shareable, always-current view.
