Quick summary
Converting a task to an Epic in Jira lets teams restructure their backlog without losing issue history or data. Use the built-in Move action and Work Type selector to change the issue type in seconds.
Steps
- In your Jira space, find and select the task you want to convert.
- Click Actions in the top-right corner of the issue view.
- Choose Move from the list of available options.
- Click the Work Type menu to open the issue type selector.
- Choose Epic from the work type list.
- Click Next to proceed to the confirmation step.
- Review the terms, then tap Next again to continue.
- Click Confirm to apply the changes and complete the conversion.
- The selected task in your Jira space is now converted to an Epic.
