Quick summary
Converting a Jira story to an Epic lets teams re-scope work items without losing history or context. Use the built-in Move workflow to change the work type directly from the issue list in seconds.
Steps
- In your Jira space, find and select the story you want to convert.
- Click the Actions button in the top-right corner of the issue view.
- Select Move from the list of available options.
- Click the Work Type menu to open the issue type selector.
- Select Epic from the list of work type options.
- Tap Next to proceed to the confirmation step.
- Review the terms, then click Next to continue.
- Click Confirm to apply the changes and complete the conversion.
- The selected story in your Jira space is now successfully converted to an Epic.
