Use this interactive demo to learn how to check the field configuration in your Airtable bases.

‍

‍

It is very easy to check the Airtable’s field configuration. Here’s a short tutorial on how to do it:

‍

  1. Inside your Airtable base, find the table that contains the field you want to check and then click the drop-down arrow next to it.
  2. Select 'Manage Fields' from the list of options.
  3. After completing these steps, you can now check the default configuration of your Airtable fields.

📌 Why this matters

Checking field configuration lets you verify data types, validation rules, and formatting settings that control how information flows through your base. This becomes crucial when troubleshooting sync issues with external tools or when inheriting someone else's workspace.

Fields might appear to work correctly on the surface while having underlying constraints that cause automation failures or data import errors. You can also discover hidden calculated fields or lookup relationships that affect performance, helping you optimize your base structure before scaling up your operations.
